His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was appointed as First Deputy Prime Minister following Royal Decree Number 14 for the year 2013, which stipulated that His Royal Highness would assume responsibility for developing the Executive Authority’s performance.
The Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister (OFDPM) was established on 17 March 2013 following Royal Decree (26) of 2013.
Following Royal Decree (4) of 2019, His Excellency Shaikh Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa was appointed as Director General of the OFDPM at Undersecretary level.
His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was Director General of the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister since the Office’s establishment until December 2018.
The OFDPM is one of the main drivers behind economic and social development in Bahrain. Under the leadership of His Royal Highness, and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, a key priority for the OFDPM has been to support the implementation of a series of projects and initiatives, which focus on delivering sustainable development to meet the needs of the Kingdom’s citizens and residents.
